With the car we rented, and in a country without speed limit like Germany, we could go very, very far. Instead of driving to Italy from Bavaria, we settled with an easier challenge, Salzburg, 120 km away. But it is still in another country (Austria). That also helped Arthur add another new country visited in his resume (which may finally approach 1/5 number of the countries visited by me).
