Yeah! I made it! Finally this of my "annual ritual" listing of my Top 10 movies of last year was completed, just a day before the Oscar Award nomination is announced (it will be on 1/23)...

It is not that difficult to decide my Top 10 anyway, since there were obviously not as many good movies as years before (this was possibly the worst movie year this century aside from 2003). Most Hollywood movies are so bad, so pointless (after watching MI:III on my flight back from Europe, I was not surprised why Tom's career had been going downhills and that had nothing to do with Katie and Suri!). Actually, the only American commercial movie I really enjoyed in 2006 is "Dreamgirls"....

Well, despite its plotlines are full of holes and there are some unnecessary nudity (which made some Westerners think Asian teenager girls enjoy taking their clothes off in front of strangers), at the end, I still think "Babel" is the No. 1 movie in 2006. Maybe I just love a movie with more than 4 languages and spanning across three continents...

The Following are My Top 10 movies of 2006:

1. Babel

2. El Laberinto del Fauno/Pan's Labyrinth)

3. Letters from Iwo Jima

4. C.R.A.Z.Y.

5. Dreamgirls

6. Grbavica

7. An Inconvenient Truth

8. Sophie Scholl - Die letzten Tage

9. Iluminados por el fuego (Enlightened by Fire)

10. Children of Men

Honorable MentionsĄŁNot in particualr orderĄ€:
Borat (If there is no nude wrestling scene, which is too long and quite icky, it should be in Top 10); Little Miss Sunshine (Nice script, good acting, but feel lightweighted); The Departed (Well, it is not an original so it is not in Top 10); The Queen; Volver(Not the best work of Pedro Almodóvar; Penelope is hot though); The Devil Wears Prada (Great lines and couture, that's all); The History Boys; Curse of Golden Flowers(Intersting stories and great acting from Gong Li but it doesn't seems a probable story in Tang Dynasty); The Death Of Mr. Lazarescu; 20 Centimeters (the second best musical moie of the year)
